A groove to get your tapping, punctuated by a single motif - the Marshall Plan and how hard Truman worked to make it successful. Thankfully, we learned from the suffering of post-WWI and took aggressive steps to avoid repeating that page of history after WWII. The Marshall Plan had a tremendous positive impact on both the European and American economies. Russia refused to participate - contributing to cold-war tensions. Communist reaction to the plan was - (how should I say it?) - less than enthusiastic. In the 21st Century, many of us think of the United Nations primarily as a symbol of ineffective and invasive world government. But things were very different in the aftermath of WWII.
