CowboySlim - Walter And Rosalee
lyrics
Walter And Rosalee

His face has too much crumpled skin,
In need of ironin' bad.
His ramen-noodle posture
Prob'ly shrunk him down a tad.
Been told he has a good heart,
But tales are often wrong.
He cleans windshields at the stop light
For the change we pass along.

More cracks than pan-fried marbles
Spread across her face.
She searches through the trash bins
For items others waste.
Beneath her seven sweaters,
She's only flesh and bone.
She's destitute and homeless,
But at least she's not alone.

Walter and Rosalee,
Always hand in hand.
Twilight 'til daylight,
Beneath the bridge's span
He limps a bit, she's patient,
The love shows in her eyes.
And when the memories haunt her,
He holds her as she cries.

Rosalee's been into drugs,
And into lots of jails.
Twelve step programs, half-way houses,
All of which have failed.
Walter was a family man,
Who dearly loved his wife.
Her cancer ate up all their funds,
Before it claimed her life.

Not sure if they're a couple
Or a real small support group
They draw strength from each other
As they stand in line for soup.
They know they've something special,
Granted to but a few...
Love based on compassion,
Two hearts faithful and true.

Walter and Rosalee,
Always hand in hand.
Twilight 'til daylight,
Beneath the bridge's span
He limps a bit, she's patient,
The love shows in her eyes.
And when the memories haunt her,
He holds her as she cries.
