Bastet Location: Dallas, Texas
If Natalie Merchant, and Sarah McLachlan joined forces with Matchbox Twenty, and Barenaked Ladies you would get Bastet from Dallas, Texas. Bastet is an alternative folk/rock band that combines female fronted vocals, with robust rhythms and melodies to create original, emotionally charged music that speaks to every corner of the human soul.
Adrienne and John started playing out as an acoustic duet under the name of Bastet in the spring of 2002. They performed at various venues in Denton, Texas such as Muther’s, Andy’s Bar and Grill, and The R Bar. Their success grew, and they expanded their fan base to Dallas by playing such venues as Club Dada, and The Elbow Room. It was during one of these Dallas performances in January of 2003, that they met current members Erik Schieffer, Leo Lopez, and former drummer Lance Ogletree who quickly jumped at the opportunity to fill out the group. Over the ensuing months, the band packed the halls of Across The Street Bar, The Rock, Club Dada, The Elbow Room, and various talent showcases within the arts community. In December 2003 with the departure of Lance who left for personal reasons, Jake Vaught from Denton was signed on and the group has not missed a beat. |
