Helen Sventitsky
 Location: Reno, NV

Helen is a singer, a songwriter, a poet and occasional actress. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Helen started singing and writing songs, stories and poetry at a young age. However, she kept her aspirations as a singer/songwriter to herself until several years ago, when she started experimenting with composing music electronically. While her initial efforts were light jazz and blues compositions with searing, yet playful lyrics. Her most recent music has taken a edgier tone, with experimental rythyms, darker themes, and more complex, poetic lyrics. A definite, and personal, turn to adult alternative at it's most distinct.

Helen's music has been featured on such sites as Besonic.com, MP3.com, Artislaunch.com, and most recently, on IC-Musicmedia.com, where her song, the "Ballad of Phoolan Devi" was featured as Song of the Day. Her voice and songs have been favorably compared to such diverse performers as Sarah MacLachlan, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Kate Bush.

An award winning poet, Helen has been published by magazines and promoted by organizations such as Screamin' MP3, Minotaur, Baker Street Irregular, and by the Chapparell Poets Society of Northern California. Her website features some of her latest work and she will be releasing an e-book of her poetry later this year for sale on Handango.com and Lulu.com.

Helen has appeared in such plays and musicals as "A Time for Courage" , "Hello Dolly", "Baby With The Bathwater" and "Twefth Night".

Helen is currently establishing herself as a gigging singer/songwriter in the Southwestern area of the United States, and is eager to participate in collaborations with other songwriters, either via music composition or via lyrical content. Her EP, "Field Recordings and Free Readings", featuring the songs "It Got You Too" and "The Ballad of Phoolan Devi", is available for sale at Artistlaunch.com and at Lulu.com. She'll be releasing her next ep, "Stories From the Road" some time this summer, and her first Full-length CD, Altered Egos, will be released in the fall/winter of this year. Watch for it!

New single: If All the World Were Like New York City...
•  posted by: TreacleStuff posted: May 31, 2004 11:13 AM
I have released an initial demo mix, of a new song, "If All The World Were Like New York City", for feedback and criticism off my site at Soundclick.com. The response, from listeners, online critics and others artists was so positive, I've decided, per a suggestion from Carol Lowery, to make the song available here for your listening pleasure, and to hopefully, get played on one of the shows here.

The song is available as a download for a limited time only from Soundclick (see link above). After that, I'll have to run it through it's paces again, and polish it so that it'll be even mo' betta! :) In the meantime, I hope you enjoy it, and, of course, feedback on it is appreciated.

Meanwhile, I'm basking in some glory (for now)...
