The Unmist
 Location: Langhus, Norway

Even though ascending from the same suburban hellhole as the infamous Norwegian black metallers Mayhem, and inventing their own genre of Black Indie, The Unmist shares little else with their metal contemporaries than the fascination of the mystique of the woods. Preoccupied with everything from classic American cars to horror movie soundtracks, The Unmist made the sound of mood swinging melancholy a well known trademark of what certainly has become one of Norway's leading post rock orchestras.

After being picked up by the Norwegian indie/electronica label Smalltown Supersound, their debut album "28:59 Long Play" saw its release late 1998, and is still a sought after underground classic five years after its release.

The years that followed the members of the indie trio worked on different projects together, always keeping The Unmist as their anchor point. With their various musical constellations they have appeared on the same bill as Mogwai, Trail Of Dead, Urusei Yatsura, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives and Quickspace amongst others.
Early 2003 their second full-lenght "Ryne Speaks" finally saw the day of light on the underground label Bubblesound to a massive applause from the media, maintaining their position as one of Norway's most exciting bands. From soothing and quiet to explosive and violent, "Ryne Speaks" challenges every listener in a new way. The melancholy of the debut is still present, but evolves further with a fresh and earnest approach to modern alternative music.
