Wry Dawn has been performing since the Winter of '02, when three musicians fell in with each other at an open jam in "Deep Ellum", the ever intriguing music district of Dallas. Eclectic in interests and experimental in outlook, they formed an acoustic trio. The months went by, with numerous unusual original songs coming to light, along with a strangely eclectic set of cover tunes. They were on to something, as suggested in the name they chose for the group, meaning "unusual beginning." The band went through several changes, but eventually D.W. Hadley (guitar/bass/harmonica/vocals), was joined by Paul Caceres (guitar/vocals), and Rick Shipman (mandolin/banjo/guitar/vocals), with numerous friends and other guests sharing the stage at times. All current members show that original flair for something different, and all bear an attitude that says, "Let’s make a difference, one show at a time, through music." The eclectic blend of youth and experience, the diverse interests and backgrounds, and the differently familiar "grass-rock" music produced by the group all suggest that something unusual -- and worthwhile -- has indeed come to light in Wry Dawn.

UPDATE -- Now we are basically two (DW & Paul), but that is not stopping us, though we will continue seeking artistic, talented and dedicated bandmates to round out the live lineup. In the meantime, we are polishing our "acoustic duo" format and striving to maintain "the celebration of strings." Look for new tunes in early 2006 (maybe even some live ones!) and news of a summer tour!
