Saturday Night Saints
 Location: Toronto

According to sources, the concept of Saturday Night Saints was first realized in the summer of 2003 when a few musicians decided to get together and jam after a long night of partying and substance abuse at one of downtown Toronto’s most alternative hot spots. Two musicians in particular, vocalist/guitarist Monzon (formerly of SOMA) and lead guitarist Crunch (formerly of DreddwooD), had crossed paths on the circuit before, but once they got in the same room together nothing could have prepared them for the sheer enchantment that was to follow.

A lot of the inspiration for SNS’ music comes from witnessing injustices on city streets. Everything from sinister police officials, to crack heads fixing in an alley, to the hookers patrolling the roadways until the wee hours of the morning. The lyrics are autobiographical and tell stories of the struggle between social classes, gentrification, and dealing with a corrupt society. “You will never really understand until you’ve lived it. People love to point the finger, but most of them are hypocrites because they’ve never lived it or seen anything with their own eyes”, Monzon declares. “I’ve always wanted to form a band that was socially aware and would write about the trials and tribulations of growing up and surviving in a hypocritical and bureaucratic culture. Crunch and I come from the same area and we’ve seen a lot of shit in our day. It was only natural that we bring our frustrations and experiences to life through the music that best exemplified our thoughts and feelings.”

The boys can be seen ripping up clubs along the Queen St W strip at almost every time of the year. They are a compassionate bunch and will always take the time to say hello to fans and friends. Just ask and you can find yourself getting in free to gigs, getting cool swag, or a copy of their latest tunes.

Saturday Night Saints joins the never-ending rebellious fight against the corrupt practices of higher powers. The revolution is coming, so buckle your seat belts and enjoy the ride. It’s sure to be a bumpy one.
