Lil Rocka gets her start in the heart of MoTown ( Detroit City). Growing up in some of the most Gritty parts of the City gave her insight of a difrent kind and inspired her to write Music...it is the only thing that kept her Sane.
She is the youngest of 7 children, All of whom had diffrent personalities and various styles of Music they would listen to..this lead to Lil Rocka being very diversed with Music.
Lil Rocka started out by singing in the Church Choir at the tender age of about 5. The minute the Musical director heard how powerful her Voice was, she suggested she be placed in the Adult Choir. From this point, she began directing the Choir and became 1 of the lead soloist.
She then began singing with community Choirs all over the city of Detroit,
and eventually traveling singing for various TV shows such as Bobby Jones and Vickie Winans.
This journey lead to Theater and she began traveling with such shows: " The Devil Made Me Do It", God Don't Like Ugly",God's Trombone, and Jesus Christ SuperStar.
Nichelle decided she wanted to start a Girl Group and this journey lead to Hope Love and Joy! This girl's group continued to perform all over Detroit MI., they Sang songs from Gospel to Secular until the group decided to name themselves " JWUN"(Just What U Need"). This Group went on to perform for Charities,NAACP, and worked hard to get a deal. After the Final breakup with the 2 remaining members of the group(1aChord), Nichelle decided to go SOLO, this lead to her move to New Jersey..this way she could be closer to NYC.
Since her Move she has worked with Various Artists such as :Joe Cocker, Mario, Monica, Kelis, RES, Kool and the Gang, Taylor Dayne, Nona Hendryx, and this list goes on.

She has written songs for various Girl Groups and with her lyrical
talent, has coached Rappers from the Queens Area of NYC.
Lil Rocka started working on her own Sound, and wanted to find her Niche, realizing that her Sound and Voice was diffrent. Once she found it, she owned it, this is where the Birth of Rock Baby comes to play.
