This is an awesome old folk blues song circa early 19th century that was originally about a young woman who worked in a house of ill repute after the untimely death of her mother. Or so some sources say. No one is quite sure exactly what the original lyrics are or who actually wrote it. But no matter. We are just pleased it is in the public domain and we are able to record it.
