Mikey Power was born in St. Mary's, Jamaica, He began writing songs, Poetry and plays at an early age. His mother, sister Gwen encourged Mikey to eventually record his music. He did record three singles that were released both in Jamaica and England. This sparked the late Peter Tosh's interest in working with Mikey. Sadly, Peter Tosh was murdered before Mikey's project had even begun.
Mikey then moved to Canada where he met singer/songwriter/producer Roberto Philipp. The two began writing dozens of songs together and recorded a few demos but never completed a full album. Roberto Philipp went on tour to promote his own album and Mikey Power went to NYC to do some work woth the legendary Coxsonne Dodd. Mikey work in NYC was never completed because Mr. Dodd had too many other projects to attend to. Mikey then returned to Canada and continued to pound the pavement looking for the right producer to work with. After many years of losing touch with Roberto Philipp. The two had again met by chance and picked up where they left off. They recorded Mikey's debut cd, Let It Sing in 2003. Roberto Philipp produced the album in his studio. The results immediately brought in the right offer from Universal Music and the album was released in July, 2003. Let It Sing received rave reviews from all across Canada. Power and Philipp have just completed Mikey's second album entitled, These Are The Days. It will be released in the spring of 2007.
