| This is a song about the hometown of my very early youth. It was a little town that had the misfortune of being in an area that was perfect for a reservoir. And NY city needed water. Emminent domain is not all bad for the right reasons and if handled properly. This was not handled properly. The landowners were paid 50 cents on the dollar based on an assessment of value. Many farmers never farmed again. This lowball price was particularely hard on large landowners like farmers. NYC has 19 reservoirs containing 547.5 billion gallons of water. Many are in the catskill region. They had plans for more but were stopped. They can no longer use emminent domain to aquire land. I did this song with no drums or anything. Just raw guitar and heartfelt lyrics. I had always felt the loss and wanted to convey the feelings of family and some of the people affected by the loss. I hope I did a good job. I feel good about it. NYC board of water did not like it so, I must have done a god job. Thanx for listening. | |
