well, what can i say. mid year has come and gone and still no new record from your friends at tHe cLark iNstitute. i know that several zillion of you are holding your breath for this one. please!....exhale. it could be a wee bit longer before the new record emerges and i don't want several zillion dead people on my hands. the guilt would be just horrible. so, all i can tell you at this point is that the record (now tetatively entitled 'the big finish') sounds !@#$ amazing. the best one yet! so please i beg of you to be a little more patient and i will deliver to you a wonderful musically entertaining and heartbreaking collection of songs. on the bright side you only have to wait for it, i'm dying here trying to pull it all together. the things i do for you people. sheeesh.

Lake Monona Last Night

On December 10 1967 while enroute to a gig, the plane carrying the king of soul, Otis Redding, crashed into Lake Monona located in Madison, Wisconsin killing everyone on board but one band member.

Fast forward 30 odd years (and I do mean ODD) later and my heart also crashed into Lake Monona. In the spirit of Beck's 'Sea Change'; Dylan's 'Blood On The Tracks'; Sinatra's 'In The Wee Small Hours'; Lennon's 'Walls And Bridges' and maybe even Aimee Mann's 'The Forgotten Arm', I am currently writing and recording a record to document this personally devastating experience. Heck, it might even end up being entertaining! I hope to have it all packaged up nicely under the title 'The Fatal Mallet' by mid year.

A final note: The version of 'Lake Monona Last Night' available here at Songplanet Radio is not the final mix that will end up on 'The Fatal Mallet'. I just wanted to let you hear it because I'm pretty swell that way.
