| Background Information on (Im Gonna) GIVE MY LOVE This recording of GIVE MY LOVE is actually the second recorded version of this tune. This song was originally the "B" side of AVALANCHE's first single, "LITTLE MISS SAD EYES," but when the record was released on January 24, 1979 and found its way onto the air at thirteen prominent New England radio stations...a funny thing happened. Nobody at the stations seemed to think it was a "B" side. Both songs received extensive airplay, and helped launch AVALANCHE as a band to be reckoned with. In October of 1978, Mark Easton walked into the rehearsal studio that the band was pretty much living at (except to sleep), and announced he had what he thought was the makings of a great new tune. At that time, AVALANCHE was going through an incredibly creative time...producing high quality original music on a weekly basis. The song needed something, though, and as on many other tunes that were written during that period, Mark and Michael seemed to think as one mind, and often would hear what was needed in each other's songs to make a good idea gel...into a finished product. Michael immediately added the bridges and the all the guitar solos, and "GIVE MY LOVE" was a reality. Unfortunately, the original single was poorly produced, and recorded in an inferior studio, and so when the Studio Sessions that became COMPLETE AVALANCHE took place, for the sake of consistency...both songs were re-recorded. The original band was much tighter after 18 months of rehearsals than the recordings here indicate, and although the production and studio facilities were much better on these newer versions, the playing was not. The original lineup was brutally tight.but hopefully, the essence of the song still comes through.
