"ROCK AND ROLL TONIGHT"

SONG INFORMATION FOR ROCK AND ROLL TONIGHT

For all the years that the original four piece version of Avalanche was playing out regularly on live concert stages (with the late, great, Charles Calmese on bass...before he left the band...and his tragic untimely death due to an automobile accident)...this song was the song we nearly always opened all of our live shows with...except for a few shows when" Little Miss Sad Eyes" was getting lots of radio airtime. (Charles' Platinum Record Award-Winning bass playing can be heard on The Steve Miller Band's "Fly Like an Eagle" and "Book of Dreams" albums...and is featured on the hits "SwingTime" and "Jungle Love"). This track always did a great job of letting the audience know exactly what we are about as a band...and what they could pretty much expect from us for the rest of the show...and it would "set the bar" for the rest our concert set(s). This song is just a "balls to the wall" hard rock tune...and it captures the essence of what we do (musically) very well...it really is.... PURE AVALANCHE.

All of our songs are for the most part, autobiographical...and the lyrics to this song clearly reflect my experiences and my point of view at that time (1979). The lyrics and music capture "a moment in time"...and the life we were living during that period.

Avalanche as a band...and the guys in it, experienced many problems personally and professionally as a result of our hard-core "party" mentality. Today, these lyrics do not reflect my current belief system...I have been in Recovery from addiction for a number of years now. But the song is what it is...largely a "we hope you just let it all hang out and really enjoy our show" type of song...and so I have decided to not change anything ...everyone has the right to choose their own path in life...and for me...well, I had to go where I did...to get to where I am, today.
