This is a brand new Avalanche track. It was wriiten during the June, 2006 Recording Sessions at ROUGH CUT STUDIO. As in many Avalanche tunes, Mark Easton showed up with the lyrics and chords for the verses in this song. The clear need for a bridge was obvious however, and I immediately "heard" the bridge and "off time" lead guitar parts for this tune. The "back and forth" guitar parts between Mark and myself on this track really make it interesting to listen to, I think...and as usual...we just seem to finish each other's musical "sentences". The next day, Mark showed up with newly written lyrics for the new bridge...and the song then came together very quickly. Mark insisted that I play the guitar leads on this track...and as the Producer on Avalanche recordings...I really felt Mark should do a slide guitar solo at the end of this one...since this song does reflect some of our various "Southern Rock" influences.

Although my playing came out OK on the solo breaks...I was really struggling with serious wrist and hand injuries..and I still feel that normally...I could have done a much better job on those. Again...it is a "musical moment...captured on tape" and although the execution could have been better by me...the musical ideas still seem to come across clearly. Mark's slide solo at the end is as always...just excellent playing...and was exactly what was needed to put the finishing touches on this piece. The entire ending of the song is a "cascading dynamic build" from the rhythm guitars...to Michael's bass moving from high to lower registers...and to the eventual double time and then the all-out crescendo at the very end. It conjurs up images to me...of an "avalanche"...rolling down a mountain...and gathering power as it goes along. Barry's drumming is amazing on this track as well...and all in all...we're pretty happy with this piece. Every song we recorded during these past sessions covers very different "musical territories"...and hopefully, it shows that this band is capable of doing more than just what..." is expected" from us.

Special thanks to Mike Kohlgraf (again) for his feedback during the mixing process.

We all hope you enjoy this one...and thanks for listening!

Hugs...Mike (NAV) and AVALANCHE
