"Stuck In A Line" was one of the many songs that came about as a direct result of the songwriting synergy between Mark Easton and myself. As in a number of Avalanche tunes, Mark came up with the original idea for the verses on this one...and I added to Mark's original ideas with additional guitar parts and bridges. This song features the obvious diversity of our guitar styles...but how those styles clearly compliment, rather than compete with each other. Mark and I will often "switch off" as lead or rhythm guitarists...and as far as the enjoyment level...and the end result...it is always irrelevant which part is being played...or by whom. The chemistry just works. Mark's solo on this tune at 3:03 into the song is just truly amazing...in my opinion.

This song is all about Freedom. Freedom from confinement. Freedom from restrictions. Freedom from insanity in all of its forms. Freedom from lines...Checkout lines, Unemployment lines, Waiting rooms, Dead-end relationships, Traffic jams, Methadone clinics...the list is long...and we all have our specific pet peeves or issues to deal with...so hopefully...everyone can relate on some level.

This was a song that was performed every night by the original Avalanche band...and it was often an openeing song for a set...because it was always a crowd-pleaser. This was one of the new batch of songs recorded in May-June, 2005 and is the first very time ever that the band has recorded it...and new bassist Michael Corsini once again, does a great job of recreating the energy that all the other guys (all surviving original members) remember experiencing when the band was new. Since it is a new recording...and a new opportunity for all of us to share this tune...it has all the freshness and power of the original band. We hope you all enjoy it!

Mike (NAV) and Avalanche.
