Fantastic news! SongPlanet Radio has gone mobile with spodtronic! Now all songs played on SongPlanet Radio will be broadcast to cellphones and PDAs around the world. As part of Liquid Air Lab, spodtronic is the first worldwide radio and podcast content Hub, delivering the Total Radio Experience to mobile broadband users. spodtronic won the "Best of Show" Award at the 2006 Podcast and Portable Media Expo in Ontario, CA and the 2006 DMMA Award, the most prestigious German multimedia award in the "Best Mobile Application" category. LAL recently raised $10 million in venture capital to stream music, podcasts, games, shopping, and other applications to mobile devices, so we are expecting big things from them.

We are confident that listeners who hear your music on their phones and PDAs will also check us out online. This will create a whole new audience of listeners to hear and purchase your music at SongPlanet.com. When your song is played on spodtronic, your artist name and song title will appear on the mobile device. If you haven't already made your tunes available for digital download sales, now would be a great time to sign up! The link is on the left menu on your Artist Admin page.

We are in on the ground floor on this one. Currently spodtronic is only available for a limited selection of phones, but more devices will be added soon. We wanted to make sure that one of the very first Indie stations that listeners will find is SongPlanet Radio. We are doing everything we can to make sure that your great Indie music is getting heard! Check the spodtronic site for more details.

The DJs have decided on their "Pick of the Month" from the tunes that were uploaded in April. All of these songs will be played on Motmot's Featured Orbit show on Sunday, May 13, from 6 pm to 7 pm ET. She'll also get some inside info from the artists to pass along to the listeners. Every month, it gets harder and harder to make the selections. Other artists that got mentioned by DJs this month were The Cocktail Revisionists, Empty Uranus, Rose Falcon, Jeff Coffey Band and Main Pie.

Tune in on on the second Sunday of every month to hear the latest from our terrific "Featured Orbits" lineup!

Is it worth 83¢ a month to you? If it is, that's what a Pro Artist Member Plan works out to cost. For $10 a year, you get an additional 60 MB of space to post your songs without having to delete tunes that are already getting airplay. (The DJs hate when you do that!)

You also get :
• a
Personal Blog
• a Fan feedback form (to get email without revealing your email address)
• Optional free downloads for your fans
• 80% of net after transaction fee for any digital download sales.

In the wee hours of April 10, The Alternate Routes performed "Time is a Runaway" on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. It was a great thrill for the SongPlanet DJs and artists who managed to catch the show!

The Alternate Routes are a fairly recent addition to the list of amazing artists who have posted their music on SongPlanet.com, and are an example of why we boldly claim to have the best Indie music on the planet.

The band hails from Bridgeport, Connecticut, and says that "the trio hung onto their music, their ideals, refining their sound and never lost focus. They turned each humbling moment into a lesson, each gig into a learning experience and established the all-or-nothing attitude that has come to define them." It looks like they have really managed to put it all together!

Don't forget to let us know if you are being featured on TV by posting a notice in our forums. We'll do what we can to get the word out and boost your audience!

Did you know that you can make SongPlanet Radio sound awesome by connecting your computer to your home stereo system? And you don't have to be super-tech-y to do it. By running a cable between your computer's line out (preferred) or headphone jack to one of the inputs (usually AUX or CD) on your stereo, you can take full advantage of those pricey speakers you have!

The picture above is the most common cable that would be used to make the connection. It has a stereo mini-plug for the computer output jack, and RCA jacks for the stereo input. You will need to double-check your own equipment to determine what cables you would need. And of course, the length that you will need depends on how close your computer is to your stereo!

On your computer or on your stereo, be sure to tune in to SongPlanet Radio!

For those of you who do tend toward the tech-y side, here is an article that provides lots of detail.

The SongPlanet Shop is THE place for getting your SongPlanet-crested items, including T-shirts, mugs, caps, undies, and even a clock so that you don't miss your favorite live DJ show!

If there is a SongPlanet item that you would like to buy that isn't available in our shop, let us know and we'll see about getting it made for you!
