DJ Nomad, our auto-dj bot has been streaming the best of the best Indie music on SongPlanet Radio for some time now. In the past,
his playlist had been comprised of all of the tunes that had received a certain number of plays by live DJs. Well, as the number of great
songs on SongPlanet.com increased, so did the number of times a song had to be played to make the cut. This was making it difficult for some
of the really cool new songs to get into rotation, so we decided that we had to perform a little bit of surgery on the old bot's brain.
If a song has broad appeal among our DJs, it will get to Nomad much sooner--possibly as soon as a week or two after first hitting
the airwaves. We think that this will keep our music fresh and our listeners groovin'. The old favorites will still be there, too! If you
haven't listened to SongPlanet Radio in a while, check it out. It's as easy as clicking one of these magic buttons:

The
DJs have chosen their "Picks of the Month"
from the tunes that were uploaded in June. All of these songs will be
played on Motmot's Featured Orbit show on Saturday, July 12, from 7pm to 9pm ET. Motmot will ferret out some inside info from the
artists to pass
along to the listeners. There will also be time to play some other great tunes uploaded to the site in
June.

Requests? On SongPlanet Radio? Isn't that against the rules? Well, it was--but not anymore. We made that rule to
prevent the DJs from being hounded into playing music that they wouldn't have otherwise selected, and that principle still applies. After
all, we want songs to get on SongPlanet Radio because they're great, not because an artist or a fan has excellent nagging prowess.
However.... if a song is already in the DJs' libraries, they can now accept requests. So if you have a favorite song, and know that a certain
DJ or two have played it, you can drop by the chatroom and maybe have a little influence over the stream.
Don't get carried away though! If you have a whole list of songs you want us to play, we'll have to turn you into a
DJ!

SongPlanet Artist Videos. If you have a video that you'd like to share
with us, send
us a message. Be sure to attach your video! Don't forget to put your YouTube link on your Artist Admin page, too!
